Based on Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay's landmark 1929 novel, Pather Panchali is both Satyajit Ray's first film and the opening to his Apu Trilogy, helping to establish "parallel cinema" as a Bengali counterpart to Hindi and Tamil masalas.

ALHOSN University 4th Annual Open Day

ALHOSN University’s Annual Open Day invites graduating high school students from various government and private schools to learn more about the University’s academic programs, available scholarships, international opportunities, and career placement services.
University departments will set up booths to inform visitors of their respective courses, educational methods and activities. On-site tours will also be conducted to show university facilities and introduce key personnel.
Free TOEFL exams, iPad 3s and MP3 players will be raffled off every hour. Visitors will also be treated to free Lunch or Dinner.

‘Kids Read’ Celebrates World Book Day

Kids Read is celebrating World Book Day with a fun reading event for children.
Open to kids between the ages of 6 and 10, Kids Read Storytelling Afternoon, sponsored exclusively by HSBC Bank Middle East, is a free event aimed at motivating children in the community to read for fun. The interactive event also offers workshops for parents on how to encourage reading in their families as well as hints and tips on how to connect to their children through books.
Trained by the British Council, HSBC volunteers will be reading I want two birthdays and Elmer and facilitating various games and arts and crafts activities.
Parents can register for their children to attend this Kids Read event at: English.projects@ae.britishcouncil.org.

H.H Sultan to Open Art Exhibition

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS) will open at the Sharjah Art Museum, the art exhibition of 25 AUS faculty members of the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD), called: ‘Opus5 CAAD Works.’
‘Opus5 CAAD Works’ is the fifth expression of the creative and professional work of the faculty within the AUS College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) in a very public venue. The faculty work exhibited will reference numerous traditions, trajectories, cultures and places and is a momentary sampling of research, interest, explorations and fascinations on the minds of the current faculty.
