Recognising the need for high quality academic programs in the regional healthcare sector, Michigan State University (MSU) in Dubai has launched a Masters of Public Health degree program.
The program provides students with the opportunity to obtain a Master’s degree in Dubai from a prestigious and globally recognised US University on a part-time basis over a period of two years, according to Dr. Kevin Dunseath, Executive Director, Michigan State University, Dubai.
Dr. Michael Rip, Director, Program in Public Health, Michigan State University, officially launched the program in the presence of Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director, TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster, MSU faculty and prospective students.
The program will begin in October 2011 in a blended learning format. All core classes will be taught on a face-to-face basis, with electives offered online.
Dr Kevin Dunseath said: “In the countries across the Middle East, there is a rapidly growing need for well-educated public health professionals if the present and emerging health challenges presented in each of these countries are to be effectively managed, mitigated and even prevented. Such challenges include cancer, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease, as well as new infections and environmental contaminations.
“Through this Masters of Public Health degree program, Michigan State University believes it can play a vital role in helping regional governments, NGOs and private sector organizations meet these key contemporary challenges.”
